The hockey world is in mourning once again following the loss of promising 12-year-old player Decker Beatty of the Dresden Minor Hockey Association.

The hockey world has once again lost one of our own far too soon.

It was announced recently that 12-year-old player Decker Beatty has passed away following injuries sustained in a reported ATV accident in Greenwood, Vernon County, Wisconsin. He was taken to the London Health Sciences Centre, where he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.

The South Kent Minor Hockey Association sent their sympathies to the family, friends and teammates that Beatty leaves behind.

We are thinking of you Jamie, Michelle, families, friends, teammates and everyone that was touched by this tragedy.

The WMHA Wallaceburg Minor Hockey Association also released a heartfelt statement of sympathy and remembrance on their Facebook page.

The Chatham-Kent Cyclones released the following heartbreaking statement on their website in remembrance of Beatty:

We mourn the heartbreaking loss of Decker Beatty - a talented young hockey player from Dresden, taken far too soon. Decker was the same age as many of our own players, and this loss hits incredibly close to home. He wasn't just a name on the ice - he was a teammate, a friend, a competitor, a kid with dreams, heart, and a bright future ahead. The rink feels a little quieter today, and our hearts are heavy with sorrow for his family, teammates, and the entire Dresden hockey community. In times like these, we're reminded that hockey is more than a game - it's a family. And when one of us hurts, we all do.

Tributes also came in from the Kent Minor Hockey Association and the Point Edward Minor Athletic Association.
