Alabama football’s defensive coordinator Kane Wommack was upset with how his players finished plays against Florida State.
Wommack said one of the Crimson Tide’s keys to victory before the game was to finish plays with violence.
“One of our keys to victory was that when you’re playing a team that moves laterally in the one plus quarterback system, there has to be elements of being patient to let the ball declare, but once the ball declares, one of our keys to victory was to finish with violence and aggressiveness on the ball,” Wommack told reporters on Monday.
It was obvious the Crimson Tide players fell short of this goal while watching the game. Florida State looked like it was by far the most physical team on the field on Saturday.
Alabama players are back at practice and are preparing for their home opener against Louisiana-Monroe and there is an emphasis on finishing plays.
Alabama football’s linebacker, Qua Russaw was asked what finishing with violence meant to him on Tuesday.
“Just hit the ball carrier, like taking them out.,” Russaw said. “We had a lot of missed tackles. Like I said, like they said, a lot of people not running to the ball. So today we kind of, we did that at practice. So. it’s something we fixing. I mean, obviously, before practice, before the prep, we prepped it. Like I said, just guys. We gotta take that to the game.”
The Tide have an opportunity to show violence against the Warhawks on Saturday.
