How to Clean Timberland Boots

Timberland boots are renowned for their durability, comfort, and style, making them a staple for footwear collections for outdoor enthusiasts to fashion-conscious individuals alike. However, preventing stubborn stains and maintaining their longevity requires a regular cleaning session. This is because whether you're navigating muddy trails or city streets when left untreated, accumulated dirt and tough stains can damage finished leather. A few simple steps and special care or spot cleaning will keep them looking great for decades.

Materials Needed

• Soft-bristled brush or suede brush
• Mild soap or Timberland Boot Cleaning Kit
• Soft cloth or sponge
• Warm water (avoid hot water)
• Suede/nubuck leather cleaner (for suede boots)
• Waterproofing spray/leather protector

1. Remove the Laces. Take out the laces. Wash them separately in soapy water, then let them air dry while you clean the boots
2. Brush Off Loose Dirt. Use a soft brush to gently remove clumps of dirt and debris from the entire surface of the boots.
3. Clean Inside. Shake out any excess dirt, pebbles, sawdust, what have you. A handheld vacuum cleaner can help get in there.
4. Prepare Cleaning Solution. Mix a small amount of mild soap with warm water or use a designated Timberland Boot Cleaner.
5. Clean the Surface. Dampen a soft cloth or sponge in the cleaning solution and gently wipe the boots in a circular motion, focusing on ground-in dirt and scuff marks.
6. Rinse with Clean Water. Wipe the boots with a clean, damp cloth to remove any soap residue. Avoid excess liquid, do not run them under water.
7. Dry the Boots. Allow the boots to air dry at room temperature. Avoid direct heat sources which can damage the material.
8. Condition and Protect. For leather boots, apply a leather conditioner with a clean cloth to keep them supple. Let them sit, dry leather will slowly absorb excess conditioner. For suede or nubuck boots, use a suede/nubuck cleaner followed by a protective spray to combat water stains.
9. Re-lace the Boots. Once both the boots and laces are completely dry, re-lace the boots.
