The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the nominees for the May 2025 Player of the Month awards, recognizing standout performances in both men's and women’s cricket. 

Men’s Category

Scotland’s Brandon McMullen was instrumental in his team’s World Cup League 2 campaign, scoring 233 runs at an average of 58.25 across five ODIs. His most notable performance came against the Netherlands in Utrecht, where he scored 136 and took 4/55.

From the United States, Milind Kumar became the first U.S. cricketer to record a fifty and a five-wicket haul in the same ODI. He achieved this milestone against Oman with 5/34 and 68 runs. He later smashed an unbeaten 115 off 67 balls against Canada. 

UAE captain Muhammad Waseem led his team to a landmark T20I series win over Bangladesh. He tallied 145 runs in the three-match contest, including a blistering 82 off 42 balls in the second match. Waseem also contributed 169 runs in ODIs during the month. 

Women’s Category

West Indies skipper Hayley Matthews scored 177 runs at a strike rate of 137.20 and took 3 wickets in the T20I series in England. Her efforts earned her Player of the Series honors. She also impressed in the ODI opener with a 48-run, two-wicket all-round performance.

Chloe Tryon of South Africa shone in the ODI tri-series against India and Sri Lanka. The all-rounder scored 176 runs and took six wickets, including her maiden ODI five-wicket haul (5/34) against Sri Lanka. 

India’s Jemimah Rodrigues guided her team to victory in the tri-series final against Sri Lanka. Rodrigues scored 204 runs in three matches, including a 123 against South Africa.
