The West Indies tour of Ireland began in Dublin, where Ireland defeated West Indies by 124 runs in the first ODI, with their second ODI scheduled for this Friday.

After losing the toss, Ireland took the crease first. The top-order batters initiated a solid beginning. Opener Andrew Balbirnie gave the team a solid launchpad with a brilliant knock of 112 runs from 138 deliveries, smashing nine fours and four sixes at a strike rate of 81.16, marking his ninth century in ODIs. Stirling and Harry Tector contributed half-centuries of 54 and 56 runs, respectively, to build Ireland's total.

Despite the solid start from the top batsmen, the middle and lower order struggled to add significant runs. The last three batters, George Dockrell, Thomas Mayes, and Andy McBrine, scored just 1, 8, and 3 runs and failed to hit any boundaries. Their collapse came under intense pressure from West Indies bowlers, who maintained tight lines and lengths in the death overs.

Still, Ireland pushed through the final overs, eking out 10 more runs to reach a competitive 303 for 6.

In reply, West Indies fell short of the target and were bowled out for 179 in 34.1 overs, falling short by 124 runs. Although the top order collapsed, Roston Chase, Matthew Forde, and Justin Greaves played key roles, scoring 55, 38, and 35 runs. They found boundaries frequently, with Justin smashing seven fours, while Roston and Matthew contributed crucial fours and sixes.

The Irish bowlers lacked accuracy and control during the middle overs, enabling West Indies to build momentum. Barry McCarthy led the bowling attack, claiming four wickets in his 7.1 overs. George added three wickets, and Thomas and Joshua picked up one wicket each.
