At 74 years old, CBS' James Brown is one of sports television's longest-tenured studio hosts. And according to reports, he doesn't plan on changing that any time soon.
Per Michael McCarthy of Front Office Sports, the legendary "NFL Today" host has no intentions of retiring and is in talks with the company about a contract extension that will keep him on-air well past 2025.
Brown has been at the center of "NFL Today" since 2006, but his time at CBS dates back to being a correspondent in the mid-'80s before making his 11-year jump to FOX.
Brown has worked alongside some of the NFL's biggest names over the course of his storied career and he's hosted a record 10 Super Bowl pregame shows in the process.
This past season Brown worked with the crew of Nate Burleson, Bill Cowher, Matt Ryan and J.J. Watt as one of the league's most-watched pregame ensembles— and the veteran host remains among the most beloved in his field.
As the last face remaining from the OG "NFL Today" crew, CBS will likely allow Brown to go out on his own terms but it will certainly be something to watch over the next handful of months.
With so many changes across all of the networks in recent years, it seems like that's becoming less and less of a commonality.
But we definitely hope to see James back on our TVs in the same capacity for many falls to come starting with the upcoming '25 season.
