Joel Klatt knows Vols message boards aren't happy with him, but that didn't affect where Joey Aguilar landed in his QB rankings

Fox Sports college football analyst Joel Klatt knows he's not very popular with Tennessee Vols fans.

Klatt is well aware that the Tennessee message boards have been critical of some of his recent takes -- specifically his take on the way the Volunteers handled Nico Iamaleava's departure from the program in April.

"Our producer in the chair, Katherine (Khordaji), is a Tennessee alum," said Klatt on his show this week. "I'm sure you're all shocked to hear that Kat gets a text from Miss Becky. It's like, 'Hey girl, you tell your guy that he better watch what he says -- our message boards are filled with his name.' I'm aware Miss Becky. I get it."

Klatt didn't let his reputation with Tennessee fans affect where he placed Vols quarterback Joey Aguilar in his top 10 rankings this week.

After throwing for nearly 400 yards against the Georgia Bulldogs, Aguilar came in at No. 8 this week in Klatt's quarterback rankings.

"At number eight is going to be Joey Aguilar from Tennessee," said Klatt. "He's been terrific -- even with a loss to Georgia. He played an insane game against the Georgia Bulldogs. I've been incredibly impressed with what he's done in that offense so far. I think he's a good fit for that offense. They won the trade (with UCLA). He's a better fit (than Nico Iamaleava). The offense is explosive."

It's hard to find a better story in college football right now than what Aguilar is doing at Tennessee. Back in April when Iamaleava left Rocky Top for SoCal, everyone thought the Vols were done for the season.

Instead, Tennessee's offense looks the best it's looked since 2022 when Hendon Hooker was throwing dimes all over the field to Jalin Hyatt.

And it's all because UCLA pushed one of the best quarterbacks in the nation out the door in favor of a big name.
