Jon Gruden reveals why he hates Alabama

Despite the impressive care-package he received from the men’s basketball team, former NFL head coach and current Barstool Sports personality Jon Gruden still holds a particular displeasure with Alabama.

But when jumping on a Facetime call with Crimson Tide wide receiver Ryan Williams to explain his hate, it was actually pretty straight forward.

And understandable.

“I hate Alabama man,” Gruden said. “I’m a Tennessee Vol man. My wife went to Tennessee.”

Along with his wife being a part of the alumni base, Gruden himself also began his coaching career at Tennessee as a graduate assistant in 1986-87. Gruden went on to have three different stints in the NFL and holds an overall record of 117-112 and includes a Super Bowl victory in 2002 with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

This past season, Gruden certainly came out on the favorable side of the “Third Saturday in October”, where the Volunteers defeated the Crimson Tide 24-17.

During that game, Williams caught eight passes on 20 targets for 63 yards and a touchdown. And before Gruden could get in victory laps in, the promising young receiver made it clear where the game will be played this fall.

“Y’all come to us,” Williams said. “Just remember that.”
