Longtime ESPN analyst Lee Corso missed the "College GameDay" broadcast on Friday, the crew's first show of the 12-team College Football Playoff.

"College GameDay" was in South Bend, Indiana, covering a matchup between Notre Dame and Indiana.

At the beginning of the CFP show, ESPN host Rece Davis mentioned that Corso would miss the first half of the show's doubleheader but would join the crew in Columbus, Ohio.

Minutes before Saturday's show, Corso joined Kirk Herbstreit for a short interview, posted on social media.

Herbstreit asked the 89-year-old for an update on how he was feeling and Corso responded, giving fans a brief update.

"I'm a lot better," Corso said. "I'm going to make the rest of the year. I'm going to be at all the bowl games."

While "College GameDay" didn't share the reasoning for Corso's absence, his ongoing health issues could have played a factor, given his comments saying he's, "a lot better."

Corso missed a few GameDay shows earlier in the season, including trips to Eugene, Oregon, and Berkeley, California.

Just before the College Football Playoff, Corso was absent from the show while the crew was in Atlanta, for the SEC Championship Game. Upon missing that episode, Davis explained Corso had a "minor procedure," but he's "doing great."

Corso is now back on the set, joining the crew for the first-ever 12-team College Football Playoff in his 38th season on "College GameDay."
