The Ohio State Buckeyes showed their resolve and cohesiveness in a 14-7 win over the Texas Longhorns on Saturday afternoon, making their case as the nation's potential number one team.

The Buckeyes' win came on an eventful day that included a raucous appearance from Michigan supporter and Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy as well as the final College GameDay appearance of former Indiana coach and prognosticator Lee Corso.

Corso donned the Brutus Buckeye Ohio State football headgear for the final time, picking coach Ryan Day's team to spring the upset on Texas.

His pick came to fruition, cementing Corso's legacy as one of the better pickers of college football games in recent memory among TV show hosts.

"Lee Corso's final @CollegeGameDay headgear pick: W," ESPN's Bill Hofmeier wrote on X following the Buckeyes' win, along with a black check mark.

"His final record in all-time picks: 287-144," he added.

Corso's Picks Record Eclipses Coaching Record

Corso's final picks record greatly surpassed his record as a college football coach with Louisville, Indiana and Northern Illinois.

Corso finished his coaching career with a 73-85-6 all-time record, a career that included six winning seasons in 15 years.

Corso had one bowl win during his coaching career, the Holiday Bowl in 1979 with Indiana.

Corso Rides Off Into the Sunset

Corso's retirement included plenty of emotions from fellow analyst Kirk Herbstreit, the Ohio State faithful and others.

Fox's Big Noon Kickoff also acknowledged the rival show's legendary host with a segment prior to the game's kickoff.

Corso joined Herbstreit for a Disney World advertisement, doing his best Super Bowl winner impersonation as he proclaimed that he is "going to Disney World."

College GameDay Show in Good Hands

College GameDay has an entertaining new analyst in former Colts and West Virginia punter Pat McAfee ready to take over for Corso, providing entertaining moments and a unique style.

The show also recently announced a contract extension for fellow analyst Desmond Howard, a fan favorite virtually everywhere except Columbus, Ohio, where his alma mater Michigan's arch rivals reside.

College GameDay has been an American sports institution since its debut in the late eighties and Corso is one of its most celebrated and respected analysts.

His final picks record illustrates that he knows plenty about football, not just "the entertainment business" as he called it, and will live on as a testament to his bright mind and at times spot-on analysis.
