Louisville QB Has Pre-Draft Visit with Giants

The New York Giants have signed veteran quarterbacks Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston this offseason, but it looks like they're still weighing their options in the upcoming NFL Draft.

While they won't have an opportunity at the top quarterback expected to be selected, Miami's Cam Ward, who's expected to go No. 1 overall to the Tennessee Titans, there will be options at No. 21 for their first selection.

Per Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports, former Oregon, Texas Tech and Louiville signal caller Tyler Shough had a planned visit with the Steelers.

The 25-year-old played collegiately for seven seasons, and NFL teams reportedly like his experience and maturity, although not being considered for a Week 1 starter at the next level.

But his massive advantage of experience over other prospects at the same position could make him more ready to play than others.

The Chandler, Arizona, native spent three seasons at Oregon before transferring to Texas Tech for three years. He ultimately ended up at Louisville for his final season of eligibility.

The 6-5, 225-pounder started a total of 32 games in college while completing 63 percent of his passes for 7,820 yards and 59 touchdowns to 23 interceptions.

The Giants are most likely going to roll with Wilson as their starter and Winston as the backup, although there will no doubt be a bit of a quarterback competition in New York this offseason. Either way, it wouldn't be the worst-case scenario for a young quarterback to sit behind both Wilson and Winston as he learns the game at the next level.
