The LSU Tigers are going back to Omaha, Nebraska. It's not for a vacation, either. Rather, they're one of the final eight teams alive in college baseball, following a great showing in their Regional and Super Regional matchups.
After his Tigers grabbed their Omaha-clinching win in Super Regionals, Jay Johnson was passionate and confident during his message to his team.
"Tomorrow we'll meet at four o'clock and we'll get ready to win a national championship"

"This is the best place in the world. This is the only place in the world for me. I really wanted these guys to go because they'd earned it. I can't wait to go chase a national championship with them." -- Jay Johnson in postgame presser

LSU was dominant in their Super Regional series against the West Virginia Mountaineers. There was a clear talent discrepancy between the two teams, and the Bayou Bengals never looked back after grabbing a 6-0 lead in the second inning.
This is how college baseball goes, though. While the Tigers do boast some elite talent in comparison to other teams around the country, they are also playing their best baseball at the right time.
LSU's starting pitching is arguably the best in the country right now, and the depth of their batting lineup has shown up in recent weeks from big-time performances by Chris Stanfield, Luis Hernandez, and others. The bullpen has a ton of impressive "stuff" that includes elite velocity and breaking balls from a handful of arms.
Jay Johnson is deservedly excited for this opportunity for his team. He understands how good they can be when they're playing to their ceiling. We will see if LSU can finish the job and return to the limelight of college baseball.
The Tigers defeated Florida in 2023 to win it all. They're hoping to reclaim that title over the next few weeks of play.
