Earvin "Magic" Johnson is known as one of the icons of the 80s and 90s whose basketball career success coincided with the prime of "Iron" Mike Tyson's career in boxing.

Johnson is big fan of Tyson's saying on Friday night that he has attended "every Tyson fight."

The 58-year-old Tyson lost a unanimous decision to 27-year-old YouTuber turned boxer Jake Paul on Saturday, with all three judges scoring the fight for Paul (80-72, 79-73 and 79-73).

Afterward, Johnson could not contain his frustration as he took to his X account to share his unvarnished thoughts.

"Just sad smh," the former Los Angeles Lakers and Michigan State Spartans superstar said. "I cut it off because I couldn't watch anymore.

"It's sad to see Mike Tyson like this because I went to every Tyson fight. This fight tonight was not great for boxing."

The fight was sanctioned as a professional bout and dropped Tyson's record to 50-7 with 44 knockouts.

Paul moved to 11-1 with seven knockouts, a mark he has compiled since starting his boxing career in 2020 with boxing wins mostly against ex-MMA fighters.

Paul's only loss came in February 2023 to professional boxer Tommy Fury, following which he has now won five straight fights.
