The UConn Huskies announced today the signing of Wisconsin transfer Serah Williams, who has one year of eligibility left.

Williams, who averaged 19.2 points, 9.8 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and an FG% of 49.3 in the 2024-25 season at Wisconsin, will join Sarah Strong in the front court. She played for Marisa Moseley, who had been a UConn assistant coach from 2009 – 18. Williams earned Big Ten DPOY in 2024, and was a two-time first-team All-Big Ten.

UConn has had great success in the transfer portal. Dorka Juhász joined UConn after three years at Ohio State, Lou Lopez Sénéchal transferred in from Fairfield, and most recently Kaitlyn Chen , who was drafted by the Golden State Valkyries this year, was a graduate transfer from Princeton.

The addition of Williams will lend some leadership experience to underclassmen Jana El Alfy and Ice Brady . El Alfy and Brady each had some success this past season but were inconsistent. Williams will give coach Geno Auriemma more strength down low. The Huskies will also be looking to get Ayanna Patterson back, and hopefully Caroline Ducharme will continue to improve and make a significant contribution.

Whether or not the Huskies sign another player is yet to be seen. They do have another scholarship slot, and USC guard Kayleigh Heckel visited UConn on the same day as Williams.

And that, my friends, as they say, is that.’ — Martin Ruben.
