Between the huge success of Reacher and War Machine, Alan Ritchson has felt like the king of streaming lately. While that is unlikely to change anytime soon, his streaming success is set to suffer a setback because every season of one of his early shows is about to leave Netflix.

Alan Ritchson's 'Blue Mountain State' Is Leaving Netflix on May 2

According to a report from What's On Netflix's Kasey Moore, all three seasons of Blue Mountain State will be leaving Netflix on May 2, 2026. The show was a crude comedy that followed three freshmen football players trying to survive school while constantly partying. It starred Alan Ritchson as the team captain, Kevin "Thad" Devlin Castle.

Blue Mountain State originally ran for three seasons of 39 episodes on Spike between January 11, 2010, and November 30, 2011. It has developed a devoted cult following thanks in large part to the involvement of Ritchson and its years-long run on Netflix. That is why it will certainly be a major disappointment to many that it will be leaving the streaming service in just over two weeks. Sadly, that isn't the only bad news for fans.

'Blue Mountain State: The Rise of Thadland' Is Leaving Netflix on May 1

The same report from What's on Netflix noted that just before the series departs the streaming service, its sequel movie will exit one day earlier. On May 1, 2026, Blue Mountain State: The Rise of Thadland will leave Netflix.

After Blue Mountain State's third season ended, that wasn't the end of the story. Instead, Alan Ritchson and the rest of the cast returned to their roles more than four years later. After a Kickstarter campaign seeking to raise $1.5 million to fund the movie spin-off's budget was launched on April 8, 2014, it significantly surpassed its goal and reached $1,911,827. The sequel movie, Blue Mountain State: The Rise of Thadland, was released by Lionsgate on February 2, 2016.

Even though both the series and movie are leaving Netflix, fans may still get the chance to see more of the characters they love from both. In February 2024, Deadline reported that a sequel series was being shopped around with Ritchson attached.
