New Uniforms Coming for WVU Football?

West Virginia football received a new batch of uniforms in 2013 and 2019. This upcoming season will be the final year with the Nike current set, unless they decide to continue on with the look. History says, change is coming. 

Wide receiver Rodney Gallagher III may have spilled the beans during a recent guest appearance on Athletic Aesthetic, but didn't reveal much.

"We're getting a whole new set of uniforms next year...basketball just got black uniforms too."

When asked what he would like to see in the next set of WVU uniforms, he went with a non-traditional suggestion.

"I think what we need to do is put like some mountains. Say we had like an all black uniform, right? It has gold lining, gold numbers, and then I would want some type of mountains. I don't know where in the uniform yet, but just something like that - another Country Roads uniform. The helmet, have an all-black helmet and we should have the actual state logo on one side and the other side could be your number."

I know the black and gold look is a touchy subject for a large portion of the fan base because it would closely resemble Pittsburgh sports teams. Having a black alternate uniform that you wear maybe once a year isn't the end of the world. They will never stray away from the Old Gold and Blue being the primary colors. Just about every team in the country has a black or gray alternate uniform. 

If I could throw my suggestion out there, it would be to bring back the flying WV on the sides of the shoulder pads i.e. the Pat White era. I'd also bring back the gold outlines of the numbers on the white jerseys. The road uniforms are dominated by blue and white and have a bit of a Penn State-ish feel. As for the mountains, I like the concept. I just don't know where they would be worked in.
