This Tuesday, Dec. 23, continues the first matchday of the Africa Cup of Nations, and Nigeria makes its debut in the tournament by facing Tanzania at the Complexe Sportif de Fes in Fez.

Both teams share space in Group C with Tunisia and Uganda.

Nigeria is coming off a successful final preparation match, having defeated Benin 2-1 on Oct. 14. Before that, they lost to DR Congo on penalties in World Cup qualifying playoffs on Nov. 19.

Tanzania, for its part, does not arrive at the tournament in high spirits, as it has not won a match since Nov. 19, when it defeated Guinea 1-0 to secure AFCON qualification.

Their recent matches include a 0-0 draw against DR Congo on Jan. 24, 2024, and a 2-1 loss to Botswana on Nov. 15, 2024.

Currently, Nigeria occupies a top-20 place in the FIFA ranking, while Tanzania occupies a position outside the top 120, so it is clear that the first-mentioned team is the favorite.

Here is all the key pre-match information, including how and where to watch live, team news, and predicted lineups.
