It's a very challenging schedule for Notre Dame that includes 10 Power 4 football teams. The only two Group of 5 teams on the schedule are Boise State and Navy, who won 12 and 10 games in 2024, respectively. Boise State earned a berth to the College Football Playoff.
Notre Dame's 12th opponent to be added was Stanford, who will host the Irish on November 29th. There had been reports and rumors about that game possibly being played in the Rose Bowl to celebrate the 1925 Rose Bowl game the Irish and Stanford. The ACC's release of the 2025 schedule noted that the Cardinal would host Notre Dame inside Stanford Stadium.
Notre Dame's opponents compiled an 88-67 combined record in 2024, with 10 of the 12 opponents earning a bowl berth.
