On Thursday, Notre Dame received a huge commitment (quite literally) from star 2025 Waukesha (Wis.) Catholic Memorial offensive tackle Owen Strebig. Whether you look at the size, offer list or recruiting ranking, it's pretty easy to get excited about Strebig joining the 2025 class.
During the course of Strebig’s recruitment, the 6-8, 295-pound offensive tackle has spoken a lot about his relationship with the Irish. He has consistently mentioned Joe Rudolph and Marcus Freeman as big reasons that Notre Dame was also right at the top of his list. The other name you will hear frequently is 2025 quarterback commit Deuce Knight, who has been in constant contact with Strebig throughout the process.
"We talk every day on Snapchat, on the phone,” Knight told Irish Breakdown. "Owen will hop on the game at times to play as well. We have had a really good relationship ever since we met at the Ohio State game for the first time.
"Owen is a really laid back guy,” Knight continued. "He’s just very chill, but he’s really funny. He likes to joke a lot and have a good time. He is going to fit right in with the rest of the group.”
Strebig becomes the 14th commit in the class for the Irish. The class has already built a very strong bond, and Knight has played a major role in that.
"Everything with the class has been good,” he said. "We have a text chat and we text each other every day. We will snap each other as well. It’s great to get to know everyone and just talk before we get to South Bend. It’s really a family over here.”
The Wisconsin star becomes the second offensive lineman in the class, joining Connecticut standout Will Black. Notre Dame has a chance to put together a tremendous offensive line class and Knight understands how important that is. He already feels well protected even before ever taking a snap.
"As a quarterback, you have to have the guys up front,” said Knight. "You can’t do what you do without them. There’s only so much I can do. I want the best and that’s what Owen is. He’s a really good player.”
