Ohio State flip target committed to play in the ACC makes bold statement about the Buckeyes that could be good or bad
Adam Cairns/Columbus Dispatch-USA TODAY NETWORK

The Ohio State Buckeyes are working on finishing touches to put on their 2026 recurring class that currently has 21 players committed. The Buckeyes have the No. 9-ranked recruiting class, per 247 Sports, and are looking to add a couple of more players to that class. One offensive lineman the Buckeyes are looking to add is currently committed to an ACC program and Ohio State watched him play this past Friday

Ohio State Buckeyes remain in the mix for in-state target Landry Brede

The Buckeyes' offensive line coach Tyler Bowen was in Mentor this past Friday to watch NC State commitment OT Landry Brede. Brede was offered by the Buckeyes at the beginning of the month, as he was a player the Buckeyes wanted to take another look at this fall. Brede has been committed to play in the ACC since the end of June, but the Buckeyes are in the mix to flip his commitment.

"I grew up watching them, so it was a big, big offer for me,”Brede said of the offer from the Buckeyes, via Eleven Warriors. "I didn't want to get too starstruck by the name of the offer but it's obviously a big thing, (the) national championship.

"It’s a big thing growing up in Ohio, obviously, the culture behind it. But, I just got to not think of the name and think of what's best actually there, so that's really what's been going through my head."

Brede isn’t getting caught up in the late offer from the Buckeyes fully and is making sure he makes the right decision for his future. That’s understandable. Ohio State missed on several of its top offensive line recruits, but did land key in-state pieces like Sam Greer and Maxwell Riley. Adding Brede to the class would give Ohio State three offensive line commitments from the Buckeye state. When it comes to what Brede is looking for, it is pretty simple.

"It's mostly relationships to me, but (NIL) is something I have to consider," Brede said via 11W. "We'll see where that takes me, but it's relationship-based and development-based mostly."
