The Oklahoma City Thunder took a trip to the valley to battle the Phoenix Suns with each team on the second night of a back-to-back set. The Thunder had the misfortune of traveling on the second night of the set and being without four key rotation pieces, including the league's MVP in Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

After a sluggish start, the Oklahoma City Thunder rallied with a flurry of buckets before intermission and a big scoring run in the third frame to gain control of the lead and continue its season long trend: Winning.

The Oklahoma City Thunder tallied win No. 66 of the season and clinched the top record in the NBA. This gives them home-court advantage throughout the NBA Playoffs and the NBA Finals, should the Thunder's run make it that far.

This has been a historic season for the Bricktown ballers who continue to build on its franchise-best record (Oklahoma City or Seattle). Just its second 60-plus win season since moving to Oklahoma City, the most double-digit wins in NBA history and lapping the field with the rough and tumble Western Conference to long ago locked up the top seed on that side of the bracket.

The Thunder sweeping the back-to-back set is an impressive feat on its own and an important one and now –– with two games remaining in the 2024-25 regular season –– truly everything is on ice for Oklahoma City.

Cleveland, who sits at 63-16, can not catch Oklahoma City as even if they won out to reach 66 wins (and the Thunder lost out) the Thunder own the tiebreaker thanks to its historic cross-conference record. OKC has only lost once to the Eastern Conference, a feat no team has even come close to. The previous record was just three loss to the opposite conference.

Up next, Oklahoma City will head to Salt Lake City for a matchup with the Utah Jazz on Friday night before ending the regular season in New Orleans against the Pelicans on Sunday.

After that, the Thunder will enjoy a week off before beginning the first round of the NBA Playoffs on Sunday, April 20. Oklahoma City will not know its first round matchup until Friday, April 18 after the NBA Play-in tournament wraps up.
