On Saturday, in the Oklahoma Sooners' win over Kent State, wide receiver Keontez Lewis found himself in another scary injury situation where he had to be helped off the field. Against the Temple Owls, he was hit helmet to helmet, and in this game, he was carted off the field after hitting a brick wall head-on.
But, somehow, Lewis seems to be okay.
“It kind of made my heart stop for a little bit… That was a really scary situation, so it was great to see him walk into the building the next day. He had a smile on his face… Whenever he’s ready to play, he’ll be ready to play," offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle told reporters on Tuesday.

Lewis is in the concussion protocol, and the Sooners should update everyone as he manages his way through it. The most important thing is that he's okay. However, they will be missing a legitimate threat in the wide receiver room.
In Week 1 against Illinois State, Lewis was the best receiver. He had nine catches for 119 receiving yards and two touchdowns. He hasn't done much since then, but that's largely because of the injuries mixed in with game plans just not going his way.
Lewis is still fourth on the team in receptions, fourth in receiving yards, and second in touchdowns. That's with him missing pretty much two games.
Luckily for the Sooners, they have gotten Javonnie Gibson back from injury, and he even had some action on Saturday. Right now, Isaiah Sategna looks like the best receiver on the team, and it really isn't close. However, SEC is starting now, and the Sooners are going to need more than just a few guys. This is where depth is the most important. But everyone should be happy that Lewis is okay.
