With James Franklin getting fired, plenty of interested eyes will be checking on Penn State players to see who might be interested in transferring. Here are the five players who would receive the most interest if they entered.

DE Chaz Coleman – Freshman

  • 6-foot-4, 246-pounds
  • Warren, Ohio

Coleman will be a priority for the new head coach to keep in Happy Valley and for every other head coach to try and get out of Happy Valley. While he is only a freshman, in his limited playing time he has shown NFL potential with seven tackles, three tackles for loss, one sack, one pass breakup, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery, which he returned 39 yards. Young playmaking defensive linemen are portal priorities.

LB Amare Campbell – Junior

  • 6-foot-0, 230-pounds
  • Manassas, Virginia

Coming off a breakout 2024 season at North Carolina, Campbell transferred to Penn State where he has continued to dominate. Already with 50 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss and two sacks, he has more than proven himself to be an elite linebacker who would be wanted by multiple elite programs if he decided to re-enter the portal.

OL Anthony Donkoh – Redshirt Sophomore

  • 6-foot-5, 323-pounds
  • Aldie, Virginia

As a redshirt freshman last season, Donkoh started ten games at right tackle. This season, he has mainly started at right guard, while also seeing some time at tackle. This versatility is invaluable in the transfer portal. Whether he’d play inside or outside at another school, he brings plenty to the plate if he decides to make himself available.

DE Yvan Kemajou – Freshman

  • 6-foot-3, 251-pounds
  • Burtonsville, Maryland

Similar to Coleman (above), Kemajou is a defensive end who has drawn rave reviews in Happy Valley since arriving on campus. Plus, unlike Coleman, he has only played in four games, which means he still qualifies as a redshirt. When he has been on the field he has only totaled two tackles and one tackle for loss, but Kemajou is all about potential, which goes a long way in the portal.

TE Luke Reynolds – Sophomore

  • 6-foot-4, 250-pounds
  • Westford, Massachusetts

Nobody was going to successfully replace Tyler Warren at tight end, but Reynolds has done an admirable job with 18 receptions for 197 yards. Considering the successful run of tight ends that Penn State has produced in recent years, to go along with his size and route running ability, Reynolds would get plenty of immediate interest if he entered the portal.
