Penn State Wrestling steamrolled No. 11 Michigan 38-3 Friday night for their final road dual of the 2025-2026 season.
And this matchup between the Nittany Lions and the Wolverines was slated for the annual “Light Up Crisler” by the Michigan Athletic Department. Which coincidentally, is exactly what Penn State Wrestling did as they lit up the scoreboard all evening.
On the night, the Nittany Lions won nine of the 10 matches. And make no mistake about it, many of them were dominant wins . Furthermore, Penn State Wrestling won three decisions, one major decision, and five technical falls.
But enough about that.
Onto the action!
As I’ve stated in many of my Penn State Wrestling recaps this season, this was yet another dual where the results were pretty much expected.
However, there were some interesting things I would like to point out.
First is that Nate Desmond got the start at 141. Now, the clear reason appears to be related to the incident/fire at Davis’ apartment recently. Hopefully Braeden can heal up and be ready for the end of the year.
As for Desmond, he made the most out of the start.
Tied at 5-5 going into sudden victory, Nate somehow countered a good shot from Ragusin. And Desmond was able to secure the takedown and defeat the former All-American 8-5 in dramatic fashion.
The other match I’d like to comment on is PJ Duke’s.
Moreover, the outcome of that bout tells you everything you need to know about Duke. He battled hard all match. And when the going got tough, he simply got tougher.
True freshman typically don’t win that match. But PJ Duke is far from your typical true freshman.
And the last item I want to point out is just how good Rocco Welsh is wrestling. Every single time he gets onto the mat, it looks like he just gets better and better.
Which is crazy considering he’s already the No. 1 ranked guy at 184.
That’s Penn State Wrestling for you folks …
