Taking a look at each of the recruits in the 2026 recruiting class for Penn State Wrestling.

In the previous two editions, we highlighted the accomplishments of both Elijah Brown and Sam Herring.

And in this final article, we’re going to break down the Nittany Lions’ third commitment, Jayden James, and what he brings to their talented wrestling room.

Penn State Wrestling, Jayden James Delbarton Wrestling’s Jayden James commits to Penn State Wrestling as part of the 2026 recruiting class – 11/12/2025

Because unless you’ve lived under a rock under Mount Everest for the past five years, then you most certainly have heard about this guy.

And, his future looks insanely bright in Happy Valley.

Accomplishments Jayden James brings to Penn State Wrestling

Jayden James Accomplishments

-Finished his Delbarton career with a perfect 79-0 record
-2x New Jersey State Champion (2025 & 2026)
-4x New Jersey State place winner (3rd-2023, 2nd-2024, 1st-2025, 1st 2026)
-2025 U17 World Champion (71 kg)
-2025 U17 US Open Champion (71 kg)
-2026 U20 US Open Champion (74 kg)

James originally committed his wrestling talents to Tony Robie at Virginia Tech.

However, just after Cael Sanderson and Penn State Wrestling dominated everyone at the 2025 NCAA Wrestling Championships, the No. 3 overall 2026 recruit flipped to the Nittany Lions.

And similar to Luke Lilledahl, Marcus Blaze, and PJ Duke, James comes into the Nittany Lion wrestling room as college-ready as anyone.

Jayden James’ Lineup Fit for Penn State Wrestling

While wrestling for Delbarton, Jayden took home his state titles at 150 and 165 pounds respectively. And as mentioned above in his accomplishments, the most recent weight James wrestled was 74 kilograms at both the 2026 US Open and 2026 US World Team Trials.

So based on this information, it seems likely that Jayden will compete at either 165 or 174 pounds. But with the reigning Dan Hodge Trophy Winner already occupying 165 for one more season, I wouldn’t be surprised if James suits up this coming season at 174.

Couple this with the fact that PJ Duke is bumping up to 165, and the writing starts to appear more clearly on the wall.

And that is this: There is going to be an absolutely insane battle for the starting spot at 174 inside of the Penn State Wrestling room next year.

Because between William Henckel, Asher Cunningham, and Jayden James, you have a large shipping container full of trophies and an amount of talent that is almost limitless.

But when the dust settles on this starting spot, whoever occupies it will be an immediate NCAA title contender next year.
