Pitt Football Offers Talented 2027 QB with Ties to the Program

Pittsburgh, football and the city of Shreveport, La. have a special connection, which has grown significantly in the past month thanks to a particular commitment to Pitt football.

Shreveport is the hometown of Pittsburgh Steelers Hall of Fame quarterback Terry Bradshaw. Panthers head coach Pat Narduzzi and his coaching staff are now trying to make a connection with that part of the country and the great football talent from there.

Pitt landed a commitment from 2024 3-star wide receiver Tyreek Robinson from Evangel Christian Academy in Shreveport, earlier this month.

Narduzzi and offensive coordinator Kade Bell were in Louisiana making a home visit to Robinson and while there, they made an interesting offer.

The Pitt staff extended an offer to Robinson’s teammate, freshman quarterback Peyton Houston. While Pitt football comes in early for the burgeoning star, it will serve as just one of the many of offers that this talented quarterback will receive over his high school career.

Along with Pitt, Houston holds offers from Ole Miss, TCU, Texas A&M, Texas Tech and Louisiana Tech.

“Getting this offer as a ninth grader is amazing, but I have to remember to always work and trust God in everything,” Robinson told Pittsburgh Sports Now. “My teammate Tyreek Robinson just committed to Pitt. Coach Narduzzi and Coach Bell were on a home visit with him and they saw my film.”

“Tyreek sent me their information and they offered me. The coaches are great and I’m looking forward to building a relationship with them.”

Houston has great quarterback mechanics for someone who just finished their freshman season. He has the ability to stay in the pocket and hit his wide receivers with precise throws, generating incredible power from just twisting and extending his arm while standing.

He is also tough to plan for, as he excels in open space. If the pocket collapses, or if the defense sends a blitz, Houston has the quickness to evade them and the speed to run past them for large gains and touchdowns.

“I consider myself as a dual-threat quarterback with a mechanics like a pocket passer,” Houston said. “My biggest strength is my ability to escape pressure and still make throws down the field.”

Houston becomes the fourth quarterback in the Class of 2027 to receive an offer from Pitt. The others include Derrick Baker for St. Thomas Aquinas in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Charlie Foulke IV for St. Joseph’s Prep in Philadelphia, Pa. and Furian Inferrera for Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, Calif.
