The Florida State Seminoles are taking steps toward finalizing their 2025 football schedule.

According to FBSchedules.com, the Seminoles have added a non-conference game against the Kent State Golden Flashes to their schedule. NoleGameday has submitted a public records request to Florida State to acquire more details about the upcoming contest.

Through a record request with Kent State University, FBSchedules detailed that the game is scheduled for Saturday, September 20, 2025, in Doak Campbell Stadium. The Seminoles are expected to pay a $1.2 million guarantee to lock in the matchup against the Golden Flashes.

The contest will mark the first time that Florida State and Kent State have played one another on the football field. The Seminoles are 5-0 in program history against schools from the Mid-American Conference (MAC).

The Golden Flashes went 1-11 during the 2023 season under first-year head coach Kenni Burns. The program last made the postseason in 2021, finishing with a 7-7 record and losing in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl to Wyoming, 52-38.

With the addition of Kent State to its schedule, Florida State only needs one more non-conference game to finalize its 12-game slate for 2025. The Seminoles have previously announced non-conference matchups with the Alabama Crimson Tide on August 30 and the Florida Gators on November 29.

FSU already knows its conference schedule but won't learn the dates until closer to 2025. The Seminoles will host Miami, Pittsburgh, Virginia Tech, and Wake Forest while traveling to Clemson, NC State, Stanford, and Virginia.

The Seminoles are 6-1 against Group of Five or FCS opponents during Mike Norvell's four-year tenure in Tallahassee. Florida State has won 19 consecutive games dating back to the middle of the 2022 season.
