Romano reveals Tottenham made a call to potentially sign Premier League star who has 'all the ability in the world'

Tottenham Hotspur don’t have long left to conclude their summer transfer business. The North London club still need one or two attacking reinforcements in particular, to give more options to Thomas Frank.

Even if the team were to conclude the summer transfer window with a squad as is, they have more than enough talent to compete on all fronts this season. Frank is also a manager known to make the whole greater than the sum of the parts and he will know exactly how to bring the best out of them.

Now, as per Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano via Give Me Sport, Tottenham have made a call to explore the signing of Bournemouth attacking star Antoine Semenyo. He has started the new season for the Cherries in excellent form and seems to be Andoni Iraola’s most important player.

Tottenham made a call for Semenyo

Here is what Romano had to say:

“In the last 24/48 hours, Tottenham also made some calls for other players. They wanted to understand the situation of Lucas Paqueta at West Ham. Also a player they appreciate and they know very well, and was already a target, but now, obviously, it’s late in the market, so it’s going to be difficult, is Semenyo at Bournemouth.”

“Another name mentioned internally at Tottenham in the last 24 hours, then soon it’s going to be time to decide. Soon is going to be the time to make final decisions, attack and go for these new signings. But for sure, Tottenham will be busy again on the market. It’s not over at all. So they are optimistic to find the solutions they want.”

Predominantly a right-winger despite being right-footed, Semenyo is one of the rare traditional wingers in the modern game. In a day and age when inverted wingers are the way to go, the 25-year-old continues to stand out. He is versatile and can also play through the middle and on the left.

While Semenyo wouldn’t necessarily solve Spurs’ hunt for a new number 10, his arrival could free up Mohammed Kudus to play in that role. Right now, the Ghanaian is playing almost exclusively as a right winger but he has the creativity to occupy the #10 role until James Maddison or Dejan Kulusevski return.

An ambitious association

Labelled a player “who has all the ability in the world”, Semenyo’s next step in his career, looking at it logically, would be moving to a top-6 Premier League club. Tottenham would be ambitious and a perfect choice for the Ghanaian.

Bournemouth have already lost a number of their first-choice players this summer and might not be willing to part ways with Semenyo this close to the end of the transfer window. Regardless, that could all change if Spurs drop a bid and the player pushes. Let’s wait and see how things play out.
