Ronda Rousey previously enjoyed a successful wrestling career with WWE, but the chances of her going full-time with TKO’s closest competition seem low.
Rousey recently returned to the MMA ring, beating Gina Carano after just 17 seconds when appearing for Jake Paul’s MVP MMA promotion.
After that match, WWE superstar Nikki Bella said she wants to see Rousey fight again. But in an interview this week, the former UFC talent seemed to all but confirm she will not be wrestling for AEW despite the door being open.
Rousey’s last stint with WWE came to an end in August 2023, at which point she began to appear for a few other wrestling promotions.
One of them saw her work with Tony Khan’s Ring of Honour, teaming up with long-time friend and current AEW talent, Marina Shafir.
After previously working for Khan in ROH, the promoter has said the door is open for Rousey to return.
She was quizzed on those comments when speaking on the Up & Adams Show with Kay Adams this week.
Adams asked: “Are you interested in that [a run with AEW] though? Tony [Khan] said the door is open. Talk to me about how realistic that is.”
Rousey responded: “No, that life of being on the road is probably more time-consuming than doing training camp at home.”
The interviewer then replied: “You had fun though?”
To which Rousey said: “I had a great time, but it just happened to be in town and my best friend was there.”
As well as seeming to rule out another appearance with AEW, Ronda suggested that she is going to be stepping away from combat sports altogether to prioritise her family.
Speaking to Adams, she said: “I want to spend my time with my girls. I want to have more babies, and I’m like, I’m 39 already. Like, I can’t be taking any more detours, and I’m like really happy with everything that I’ve done because at one point, it’s like, when is it going to be enough?
“You know, like when are you going to be impressed enough with yourself to like spend some time with your family?”
Adams followed up by asking if Rousey would ever consider going into commentary, to which she shook her head.
