We all know about the Oklahoma Soonersmissing out on 2026 four-star wide receiver Davian Groce. Just because we have harped on it a million times, that doesn’t necessarily mean the Oklahoma Sooners aren’t recruiting well.

They have only had a few situations like that – recruits being predicted to go to the Sooners all year, and then it just not happening. But it is a mistake on the Sooners' end, a small one, but a mistake nonetheless. To make up for that, they have already begun to target elite 2027 wide receivers.

One recruit that they have already started keeping tabs on, and that they really, really want, happens to have some big-time connections to the state and the school. And that may just put the Sooners in a great position to land him.

Sooners really want 2027 four-star wide receiver recruit Tre Moore

Tre Moore already knows what the Sooners are about because of his family. But, as a four-star wide receiver from the 2027 class, he has a lot of tough decisions coming up regarding where he wants to take his talents at the college level. He plays for Weiss High School in Pflugerville, Texas, and is looking to have a big 2025-26 season.

At 6-3, 200 pounds, he’s ranked No. 3 among Texas wide receivers and No. 8 overall in the state by Rivals, and No. 19 nationally at his position by 247Sports. In 2024, he had 38 catches for 562 yards and six touchdowns, averaging 14.8 yards per catch. But remember, that was him as a sophomore. Now, he’s going into his junior season.

Moore has received over 30 college offers, including those from Texas, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Alabama, LSU, Oregon, Michigan, Nebraska, and Washington. Texas, Oklahoma, and SMU are early favorites, likely due to their location or family ties. However, Moore is planning to visit Texas this fall. He’s also shown interest in Oregon. But, in a way, Oklahoma has some big-time advantage in this race.

His father, Eric Moore, a former Oklahoma Sooners player, could give the Sooners an advantage in this battle, and his brother plays at Oklahoma Baptist.

“It’s like family over there, too,” Moore told On3. “I don’t know if it’s because my dad played there, but it’s always about my family. Even when I went there was a kid, when I wasn’t a big-time recruit, it’s always felt like family. It’s a really big family feeling. They’ve got something special.”

When you watch Moore's film, you can see that he'll be a special player in a few years. The Sooners want him, but they have some competition, and some big competition at that.
