High school football in Arizona is as good as anywhere in the country, and the personification of that talent comes in the form of 2026 running back Bobby Nesbit.
At 5-foot-10, 188 pounds, the versatile back out of American Leadership Academy in Queen Creek, Ariz., also plays slot receiver, is a kickoff/punt return specialist and plays defensive back.
In 2024, Nesbit helped lead ALAQC to a 10-2 record as the top team in the 6A East Valley Conference. They finished the season ranked third in the State of Arizona.
Last season, Nesbit gained 742 all-purpose yards and scored seven touchdowns. He averaged 5.7 yards per carry and 12 yards per catch, on his way to earning a spot on the All-Region Team.
In addition to football, Nesbit also runs track in the 4x100 event and is a two-time All-State selection in that sport.
How you do anything is how you do everything, and Nesbit practices and trains like he plays: hard and fast with a desire to get in the end zone and lead his team to victory.
Nesbit lives on the weight pile, working out under the watchful eye of strength and conditioning coach Joel Anderson at Black Box Training.
For speed and agility, he works with SPS Performance and has been clocked at 21.9 mph in-game speed and runs a sub-4.5 40-yard dash. He hits the holes fast and creates plays in the open field.
As a football player since the fourth grade, Nesbit has risen through the ranks under the tutelage of football greats like Ty Detmer, Max Hall and Nate LaDuke. In addition, Nesbit sharpens his football skills as a member of Valley’s Finest, a nationally ranked 7v7 team.
Nesbit learned about hard work, discipline and teamwork from his parents, both Army veterans. His father, Bob, is a retired Colonel with the Green Berets with over 34 years of service.
Nesbit’s mother served 20 years as a Drill Sergeant. She now protects and serves as an Assistant Police Chief in Arizona. So, the chance of getting away with mischief and hijinks in the Nesbit household is slim to none.
In the classroom, Nesbit excels as well and maintains a 3.32 GPA.
Nesbit’s gridiron talents have caught the eye of recruiters from such schools as Army, Navy, Northern Arizona, Sacramento State and Western Carolina.
The Godfather of Recruiting, Mike Farrell, said this about Nesbit,
“2026 verified 3-star ATH/RB Bobby Nesbit can fly. He can play multiple positions and special teams. 5-10, 190 and physical as well.”
