Following an early playoff exit this past season, the St. Louis Blues entered the offseason looking for ways to improve the roster. St. Louis has set out to build a more well-rounded roster, as it hopes to give itself a better chance to win next season.
However, the Blues don't have many paths to make this happen, and the front office will need to get creative to make any real changes. Some have speculated that the team could look to trade star wing Jordan Kyrou to help open things up.
All offseason, there have been rumors around Kyrou, but nothing has come close to happening. But Jeremy Rutherford of The Athletic provided the latest update on all the rumors surrounding the Blues and Kyrou.
According to Rutherford, teams are still interested in trading for the star, but St. Louis isn't actively shopping him right now.
"I haven’t heard anything specific. The team’s trade talks with the Buffalo Sabres regarding Byram cooled before he re-signed, but all it takes is a phone call. Likewise, clubs still like Kyrou," Rutherford wrote.
This shouldn't be surprising, as Kyrou has been electric for the Blues over the past few seasons. The veteran scored 36 goals and 32 assists over 82 games for St. Louis this past season.
This marked his third straight 30-plus-goal season on his resume, showing some impressive consistency. The Blues could likely net some strong assets for Kyrou, and it seems that they could still move him, potentially before the new year starts.
