WWE is reviving Wrestlepalooza on September 20 as part of its new partnership with ESPN, and while the show already feels historic and the card is stacked with huge matches, there could be more in store for the event beyond next weekend. According to Triple H, Wrestlepalooza's future could depend on how fans respond to this first installment.

WWE has heavily hyped Wrestlepalooza and is making it a major happening to coincide with their launch on ESPN. The company is repurposing the ECW brand event and making it ESPN’s first-ever Premium Live Event with the company. That has naturally sparked speculation: is WWE positioning Wrestlepalooza as a new annual tradition?
Triple H addressed that very question during an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show. When asked if the September event could become a yearly fixture, WWE’s Chief Content Officer left the door wide open. Triple H said:
“I think it will be, probably, depending on how this one goes we’ll see.”
Those comments made an already big show even that much bigger, because the stakes are big. If the card delivers and fan reception is strong, Wrestlepalooza could slot itself alongside Survivor Series, Royal Rumble, SummerSlam, and WrestleMania as a staple event.
WWE certainly isn’t holding back on the lineup, and if they can't make this show a hit, nothing will work. Four marquee bouts have already been confirmed, including John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar, IYO SKY vs. Stephanie Vaquer, and The Usos battling Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed. Perhaps the biggest headline, though, is the return of AJ Lee, who will team with CM Punk in a mixed tag match against Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch. Lee's return to WWE garnered millions upon millions of social media views. Her first match back is a must-watch contest.
With nostalgia, likely a few surprises, dream matches, and first-time bouts all packed into the card, WWE is betting big that Wrestlepalooza will make enough of an impact to justify becoming a recurring PLE.
If the launch goes smoothly, fans may not just be witnessing the return of a legendary name but the birth of a new annual WWE tradition.
For now, as Triple H suggested, it all comes down to “how this one goes.”
