USC Football: Louisville Cardinals Surprised, Bummed By Bowl Game Vs Trojans
USA TODAY Sports

The USC Trojans will be taking on the Louisville Cardinals in their upcoming bowl game, which came as a surprise to some. The Trojans season was a complete letdown compared to the high expectations that were placed on themselves entering the year.

For Louisville, they played in the ACC Championship game but now will be facing off against a 7-5 USC team. It's an unfair bowl game to play a team that won 10 games, but the playoff committee hasn't seemed like a fan of ACC this year.

"For USC, playing in the Holiday Bowl is the sign of a failed season. For Louisville, playing in the Holiday Bowl is the product of a terrible and unfair decision from the playoff committee. That decision hit UL, Florida State, and the ACC with maximum negative impact."

Per Matt Wadleigh of Trojans Wire

It's an unfair placement for this Cardinals team, but they can always take their anger out on the Trojans possibly. Both teams will have plenty of motivation to win the game, and maybe it will turn out to be a classic bowl matchup.

USC star quarterback Caleb Williams will not be suiting up for this game against Louisville, as he is likely getting ready to head to the NFL. His absence in the Holiday Bowl further makes this game less entertaining, but the Trojans can still see what they have in some of the other players.

Either way, the Trojans are hoping that they can end the year on a high note. After such a tough season, getting a win to close out the year would send this program into the summer feeling even a little better about themselves.
