2026 Tennessee Vols commit Faizon Brandon, a five-star quarterback from Greensboro, NC, is expected to miss some time due to injury.
Brandon injured a ligament in his throwing hand in Grimsley's season-opening win against West Charlotte late last month.
The injury isn't expected to be a long-term issue for the five-star recruit, but it will keep him sidelined for multiple weeks. Brandon didn't dress out for Grimsley's game against West Forsyth last week, and he won't play against East Forsyth this week.
Grimsley head coach Daryl Brown spoke to the media this week and he shared the latest on Brandon's injury and how much time the talented quarterback is expected to miss.
"Faizon injured his thumb in the overtime win against West Charlotte on the last play of the game," said Brown to WGHP. "Nothing too serious. He's going to be out a few weeks. We don't know. It could be a couple of weeks. It could be four weeks. It's just kind of a week to week thing. When they give him ok to go, he's going to roll."
Freshman Brody Lowe started in place of Brandon for Grimsley last week and passed for over 300 yards in the win against West Forsyth.
Brandon is rated by 247Sports as the No. 1 overall player in the 2026 recruiting class. He's been committed to Tennessee for over a year.
