Wilder Responds To Ngannou – ‘Step In The Ring’

Deontay Wilder vs. Francis Ngannou appears to be gaining momentum after The Bronze Bomber posted a call out video.

For Wilder, this is a chance to secure a lucrative fight against a perceived easier opponent. After a difficult run with four losses in his last six fights, his recent TKO victory over Tyrrell Herndon was a much-needed confidence boost. The “Bronze Bomber” has been vocal about his desire to take on a top-tier opponent, and a matchup with Ngannou, who has become a draw, fits the bill.

Ngannou has quickly become a box-office star despite his limited professional boxing experience. In his debut, he shocked the world by knocking down Tyson Fury and taking him the distance in a narrow split-decision loss. Though he was knocked out by Anthony Joshua in his second outing, Ngannou’s immense power and global appeal have kept him in the heavyweight conversation. The following video shows Wilder throwing his right hand in a bid to get Ngannou’s attention.

Wilder’s Power

Malik Scott, Wilders’ former trainer, spoke glowingly over Wilder’s power.

“Deontay was blessed with that power. I’m saying it from a place of experience of seeing what he has done to fighters with 18 to 20 oz gloves on, feeling what he has done to me with 18 to 20 oz gloves on. Just seeing how he operated through so many training camps and fights with fighters that have never been put in the mannerisms that his power has put them in.

“I’ve been hit so many times um by you could say big punchers. I used to spar with Lennox and spar with Wladimir Klitschko. Deontay’s power gets there so quickly with the heavy hands. It’s always hard to explain. You got some people that say it feels like a truck, some people say it feels like a bat, I just know it feels like something that I’ve never experienced at that time,” Scott said
