While the Wisconsin football staff is focused on the opening of 2027 recruiting windows, some key 2026 recruits are nearing decisions.
Wisconsin is currently focused on Bucky’s BBQ, which has quickly become a top recruiting event for rising juniors each year. The Badgers have had plenty of success recruiting attendees in the past and could have more success with the current batch of interested 2027 candidates. However, the 2026 class is full of a number of recruits considering the Wisconsin football program in their commitment decisions.
Perhaps the biggest name on the board for Wisconsin is three-star running back Amari Latimer. The dynamic back is severely underrated and has barely scraped a four-star rating in the past despite being one of the most productive running backs in the country. The Sandy Creek, Georgia native has spent plenty of time in Wisconsin recently, even booking multiple unofficial visits while in the surrounding area which is a good sign.
Latimer is nearly at the end of his official visit rope and should be nearing a commitment within the coming days. The running back is the top athlete at the position currently on the Wisconsin Badgers board, and would represent a huge recruiting win far from home.
Another massive recruiting target for the Wisconsin football staff has been four-star wide receiver Jayden Petit. The receiver is a big 6-foot-4-inch target with great hands and exceptional route running skills on the football field. Petit currently ranks as the 203rd-overall recruit in the 2026 recruiting class and the top-ranked recruit currently considering Wisconsin this heavily.
Petit was recently on campus for an official visit and has since shaken up his schedule to make room for new schools. The wide receiver just recently dropped Miami from his official visit list to make room for Missouri, who have been closely recruiting fellow Wisconsin football target and four-star safety Jowell Combay.
Combay is currently the only mentioned recruit with a date set for a commitment as the safety will announce his decision July 9th. The Wisconsin football staff has worked hard to land Combay and have now hosted the recruit a half dozen times in less than a year. The lengthy safety is also considering Missouri heavily and likely will choose between the Badgers and the Tigers.
