After previously flipping a Wisconsin football commitment, the Ole Miss Rebels could lose a commitment of their own to the Badgers.
Zion Legree, a 2026 three-star wide receiver, is a 6-foot-1-inch, 190-pound mismatch of a player on offense. The talented receiver was once a commitment to Ole Miss and held strong through multiple other commitments at the position. Wisconsin also recently lost a commitment to Ole Miss after three-star Carmelow Reed announced his commitment during an official visit with the Rebels.
However, Legree exited his commitment with the Rebels shortly after receiving a scholarship from Wisconsin and booked an official visit with the program in a shocking move. Most analysts did not expect the Wisconsin football staff to join the recruitment of Legree, but the Badgers feel the chances of landing the recruit are rather reasonable.
Legree also received a scholarship from West Virginia and booked an official visit soon after with the program. The recruit unofficially visited Florida State shortly after announcing his verbal commitment to Ole Miss.
If Legree were to commit to the Wisconsin football program, the staff would have to pat themselves on the back for prying a recruit away from an SEC school. Wisconsin has recently done battle with SEC programs for talent in Georgia, Tennessee, Florida, and Texas, but has not flipped a commitment from such a school yet.
Legree is a quick, technically and physically gifted athlete who can truly add to any offense that lands the recruit. However, landing the recruit might prove to be more of a struggle than some think as Legree has been hard to keep in one place.
Recently, the recruitment of Legree began to take-off after the Florida native was previously considered to be an unfound gem. After holding strong for months, Legree reopened his recruitment and now could be on the lookout for a new home. Some experts believe there is a chance Legree could return to Ole Miss, but while the recruit continues to enjoy the process more and more programs become involved.
Nebraska is the most recent program to offer Legree and could be the one that secures the final official visit with the recruit. Legree is reportedly in the process of booking another visit in SEC country but has yet to announce which program will earn a visit.
For the Wisconsin football staff, getting Legree on campus is a big win but also just a step towards the goal of landing a commitment. The Wisconsin football staff will have to work diligently with Legree to maintain the focus of the recruit.
