WVU women’s basketball has moved up again in the latest AP Top 25 poll, jumping up to No. 13 this week.
The Mountaineers (4-0) sat at No. 15 last week and a pair of convincing wins over major conference opponents, Pitt in the Backyard Brawl and Texas A&M, boosted them up a couple of spots. WVU dominated the Panthers 84-52 last Tuesday and then used a huge second half to blow past the Aggies 83-62 on Friday.
No. 13 is the program’s highest ranking since reaching No. 12 during the 2018 season. WVU jumped North Carolina, which lost to UConn, and NC State, which dropped a pair of games last week.
Four Big 12 teams other than the Mountaineers also appear in the top 25. Iowa State leads the way at No. 8, followed by Kansas State at No. 10. West Virginia is at No. 13 and then Baylor and TCU are back-to-back at No. 18 and No. 19, respectivley.
West Virginia plays two more nonconference games this week, hosting Bowling Green on Tuesday at 7 p.m. and Layfayette on Friday at 7 p.m.
