2x Major Champion Justin Thomas Recalls How Tiger Woods Once Upstaged Him with Green Jacket Jab

This is not the first time an incident regarding Woods dropping a Masters flex has shown up. During a TGL game earlier this year, Woods would ask his Jupiter Links GC teammate, Tom Kim, would year he was born. After Kim claimed that he was born in 2002, Woods casually expressed that he had won the Masters Tournament 3 times by the time he was born.

The winner of the Masters Tournament is awarded the green jacket. Woods, the 15-time major champion, has 5 of them in his closet, having won the tournament in 1997, 2001, 2002, 2005 and 2019.

Justin Thomas admits making several mistakes in recent starts

Justin Thomas has been trying to get back to his best form. After going through one of his worst career slumps in recent years, the 2-time major champion has started climbing the rankings once again. He though, admitted that he has made several mistakes in recent starts.

Thomas had a mixed start this year with 4 top 10 finishes in his first 8 starts of the year. He would break a long winless run with a triumph at the RBC Heritage.

Since a T22 finish at the Genesis Scottish Open, he has underperformed a bit. He has collected a T34, T28 and a T33 finish at the Open Championship, the FedEx St. Jude Championship and the BMW Championship respectively.

While speaking to the media, Thomas expressed that he has not been ‘sharp‘ which has caused him several rounds.

Since the Scottish, I just haven’t gotten very much out of my rounds. I feel like I’ve made too many mental mistakes. I just haven’t been sharp. Kind of killed momentum.

This week, Thomas will tee off with Harris English at 1 p.m. Eastern Time. He would be hoping for a strong performance to end his season on a high.

Justin Thomas still in mix of making the Ryder Cup squad

Following the conclusion of the BMW Championship, the remaining 3 Ryder Cup spots in the U.S. squad were filled. Russell Henley, Harris English, and Bryson DeChambeau automatically qualified for the event and joined J.J. Spaun, Xander Schauffele, and Scottie Scheffler. Justin Thomas, who just missed out on the automatic qualification, is still very much in the mix of making it to the team.

Thomas finished 7th in the standings, one spot behind DeChambeau despite playing in more PGA Tour events. Given the way he has performed this year, he is one of the favorites to be picked by captain Keegan Bradley .

In 2023, Thomas was a captain’s pick by Zach Johnson. Despite the poor form he was in at that time, Johnson would pick him.

Interestingly, Bradley was one of those who were snubbed from the team, which led to furious reactions from fans. This time, Thomas is dependent on Bradley to make it to the team and represent his country at the Bethpage Course in New York.
