On Monday, Team USA found themselves getting trolled on social media after a Ryder Cup T-shirt featured a silhouette that resembled Rory McIlroy . The 5-time major champion commented on this matter on Tuesday and hilariously admitted that it did look similar to him.
Team USA have launched several apparel to hype up their fans for the biennial tournament this year. Once again, Ralph Lauren is the Official Outfitter for the Americans.
On their website, Team USA is selling a T-shirt with words “USA RYDER CUP 2025” in the USA’s red, white, and blue colors, priced at $65. However, the silhouette appears to have a close resemble to McIlroy. Check out a post regarding this from X below:

Golf fans on social media would blast the Ralph Lauren company for this. As many trolled Team USA for his, Rory McIlroy was asked about his reaction.
The golfer, who is preparing for the BMW PGA Championship, would laugh it off at first and claim that it resembled more like Adam Scott . When Sky Sports’ Jamie Weir followed up by expressing that many Americans would be repping McIlroy with this t-shirt, the World No.2 claimed he would not mind that.
It looks more like Adam Scott than me but yeah, it looks a little similar, I don’t know. That’s OK, that’s fine. I won’t mind that!

It does not matter whether it’s McIlroy or Scott on that t-shirt. Neither of these golfers will tee off for America in the tournament. While McIlroy will be leading Team Europe, Scott is from Australia, so he is not coming anywhere near this competition.
This week, Rory McIlroy will tee off at the Wentworth Course in England at the BMW PGA Championship. Ahead of this event, the former World No.1 commented on his future and his retirement.
McIlroy will enter the flagship event of the DP World Tour this week fresh off a victory in his National Open. On Sunday, he took down Joakim Lagergren in a playoff round to claim his 4th win of the year and his 2nd Irish Open title.
This week will be another start in what has been a busy few months for him. The golfer, though has reached a stage in his career where he can pick events which he wants to play and skip the ones which he does not want to.
In the press-conference ahead of the event, the golfer admitted that he was in the “back-nine” of his career.
I don’t want to be grinding out here at 50 years of age. I’ll turn up and play the majors and have a nice time but you know, whenever I’m done, I’m done, whenever that is. That’s certainly not right now, but I’m certainly closer to that point now than I was in 2007 when I turned pro.

Following the BMW PGA Championship, McIlroy will turn his attention towards the Ryder Cup at the Bethpage Course in New York. He and his teammates will arrive as the defending champions and look to go back-to-back.
However, it will not be that easy. The Europeans have not won on American soil since they stunned the golfing world with the “Miracle at Medinah“. Since then, Europe has lost 17-11 (at Hazeltine National Golf Club in 2016) and 19-9 (at Whistling Straits in 2021).
After this huge showdown, McIlroy has trips planned to India and Australia. This would mark his first appearance in the Asian country and his first trip to Australia in almost a decade.
