Brooks Koepka explains the grip change he made after The Masters that’s started working for him

Brooks Koepka will likely be keen to move on from the 2025 LIV Golf season after managing just two top-10 finishes throughout the year. The five-time major winner never found his rhythm and finished outside the league’s top tier.

It was a difficult stretch for Koepka, who missed three cuts in majors and didn’t finish better than tied for 29th over his final six LIV events. The poor run of form saw him land in the open zone by season’s end.

Still, there were moments when he looked closer to his old self. He made the top 10 in Adelaide and was runner-up to Joaquin Niemann in Singapore. He also started strong at the US Open with an impressive opening round at Oakmont.

But with so few positives, questions about Koepka’s future will follow him into 2026.

Brooks Koepka explains mid-season grip adjustment

One thing that stood out from the year was how little noise there was around Koepka’s case for the Ryder Cup. And it seems even he had concerns about his form throughout the season.

“I haven’t played very good this year. It’s felt good, and then it’s just completely disappeared. It ebbs and flows. Golf’s crazy. You feel one minute you’re never going to find it again, and all of a sudden, it’s one swing and you’re back for six months.

“The putter’s let me down this year. If you’re not making the putts, you’re not confident, anything like that, it makes it very difficult, especially when I never really made anything inside eight feet, which has kind of been my bread and butter my whole career.

“It’s tough. It means you’ve got to hit it close, puts a little more pressure on your irons, then you’ve got to hit it in the fairway, and it just goes through the whole at that point,” he said.

Uncertainty surrounds Brooks Koepka’s future with LIV Golf beyond 2025

Koepka doesn’t look quite the same player he once was. The 2025 campaign was the first time in his career where he missed three major cuts.

Still, his win at the 2023 PGA Championship is a reminder not to rule him out when it comes to golf’s biggest stages. The year before that victory, he hadn’t finished better than 55th in any major.

Koepka’s contract with LIV Golf reportedly ends this year, and if he does decide to move on, it would be a significant moment for the league.

He might decide to stay put. There’s no guarantee that the PGA Tour would be keen to have him back. And as captain of Smash GC, Koepka may feel settled where he is.

Not every player who moved over has found it a perfect fit. Koepka, who has five LIV wins to his name, might be starting to wonder if there’s anything left for him there after how things have gone recently.

If his contract is up soon, wherever Koepka goes next will draw plenty of attention.
