Bryson DeChambeau Confirms LIV Golf Contract Negotiations

Earlier this year, Bryson DeChambeau was one of the many rumored golfers who would leave LIV Golf in the near future.  DeChambeau, of course, denied the rumors, and this week he confirmed that they were false in an interview at the Oakmont Country Club.  He did this by confirming that he was in talks with the higher-ups at LIV Golf about renewing a contract.

The DeChameau Rumors Can Be Put To Rest

Bryson DeChambeau was one of the LIV Golf players who often appeared on a list of an exodus at the start of the 2025 season.  His name appeared so frequently that he felt the need to address the rumors at one point.  Denying the rumors never seemed to be enough because they kept popping up.  However, with DeChambeau revealing that he is looking forward to the negotiations for a new contract, it is safe to say that he won’t be part of an exodus.

LIV Golf Sees Value In DeChambeau

Currently, Bryson DeChambeau is one of the best players on LIV Golf.  He is also the current US Open champion and is returning to Oakmont to defend his title.  Losing DeChambeau would be a massive misstep for LIV Golf, and he is well aware of that.  DeChambeau is also positive on contract renegotiation, as he revealed at the Oakmont interview.

“Next year is when it ends,” DeChambeau said. “We’re looking to negotiate end of this year, and I’m very excited. They see the value in me. I see the value in what they can provide, and I believe we’ll come to some sort of resolution on that. Super excited for the future.”

With what he is saying, leaving LIV Golf is not really on the table for DeChambeau.

LIV Golf Rolling Back

It has long been rumored that when DeChambeau initially joined LIV Golf, he got a sign-on bonus of around $100 million.  It is doubtful that he will get paid anything close to that with the new contract.  LIV has long struggled financially and has been relying heavily on funds from the PIF and not its own profits.  A huge reason why the league’s budget has ballooned to nearly five billion.  The PIF wants the budget to be reined in.  It has also set a number of obligations that should put the league on track.  DeChambeau may go into negotiations hoping for a generous payout, but he may have to leave some wiggle room for a smaller package.

What Does This Mean For DeChambeau?

In the long run, this means that DeChambeau will stick with LIV.  He won’t be turning to another league at any point soon.  He is a very valuable asset for LIV, and he sees value in LIV.  If all goes well, DeChambeau will continue living his best life with LIV Golf.  He still plays in the majors, so he has plenty of opportunities to play against his old PGA colleagues.  Something that he will be doing again this week during the US Open, where he will go in to defend his title as the major’s champion.
