It’s major season yet again on the LPGA Tour, returning to Evian-les-Bains, France, for the Amundi Evian Championship. With several players chasing history, here are five players worth keeping an eye on.

Honorable Mention: Nelly Korda

Once again, all eyes will be on Nelly Korda entering a major championship. All hopes of the “Nelly Slam” are over thanks to a T8 finish at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, but a win at the Evian would still complete the career grand slam. She’s chasing additional history this week, as a win would also earn her the points necessary to qualify for the LPGA Hall of Fame.

She’ll have her work cut out for her at the Evian Resort this week. She finished T43 at the event in 2025, her worst major start of the year. Unlike the previous majors, the Evian largely requires precision off the tee, and Korda’s 70th ranked driving accuracy percentage (67.08%) could provide a challenge for her. Then again, her strokes gained from off the tee and approach shots each rank second on tour.

Jeeno Thitikul

Always the bridesmaid, never the bride. That’s been the story of Jeeno Thitikul’s major career to date, picking up 10 top-10 finishes, but never able to reach the top. The closest she came to victory was back at the 2025 Evian, as Grace Kim finished eagle-birdie-eagle to defeat her in a playoff.

Unsurprisingly, Thitikul returns to the Evian Resort as one of the favorites. She’s hit 74.03% of greens in regulation this season, a valuable stat heading into the event. With that said, she’s barely gaining strokes on the greens, and the Evian Resort’s complex putting surfaces may limit her this week.

Haeran Ryu

Making her first start since her triumph at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, Haeran Ryu is looking to join Korda as the other two-time major winner this season. Ryu led the field in GIR% at Hazeltine National, while also ranking eighth in driving accuracy. Returning to competition just two weeks later, if Ryu can stay hot, she’ll be a force to contend with this week.

Ryu missed the cut at the Evian in 2025, but finished fifth the year prior. If she can draw from the latter, we could quickly see her name up on the leaderboard once again.

Lottie Woad

One year ago, Lottie Woad nearly became the first amateur to win a major in the modern era. She briefly held the final-round lead, but ultimately fell one stroke short of Thitikul and Kim. She may not have left with the win, but she came away with the amateur scoring record at 13 under, while also securing enough LEAP points for her LPGA Tour card.

She returns with two LPGA wins under her belt, and is ranked fourth in the Rolex Women’s Golf Rankings. Woad already has four top-10 major finishes in her young career, and is chasing a fifth this week at the Evian.

Helen Briem

The Evian Resort has already seen action earlier in the year, where Helen Briem dominated the Jabra Ladies Open de France by a whopping seven shots. She’s missed the cut in two of the three majors she’s played, but currently leads the Ladies European Tour in strokes gained with approach shots.

Her only start at the Evian yielded a T56 finish in 2025, but it’s hard to argue against course history when you have a seven-shot victory at the same course just a few short months ago.

Kiara Romero

Like Woad, Oregon standout Kiara Romero could earn her LPGA Tour card this week at the Evian. She’s a three-time All-American with the Ducks, and is currently the top ranked amateur player in the world. Most recently, she represented Team USA at the Arnold Palmer Cup, where her squad was narrowly defeated by the International Team 30.5-29.5.

Romero is no stranger to success at major championships, earning low-amateur honors with a T6 finish at the U.S. Women’s Open. Needing only to make the cut for her final point, don’t be surprised if Romero not only walks away with her tour card, but contends in the process.
