LIV Golf standout Brooks Koepka and his wife, actress and model Jena Sims, announced heartbreaking news Monday.

Koepka and Sims, who are the parents of a two-year-old son, Crew, revealed they have suffered pregnancy loss. In an emotional post on Instagram, which came with a trigger warning, Sims wrote that at 16 weeks, they learned their baby was gone.

"At 16 weeks, we learned that our baby’s heart had stopped beating," Sims said. "This is a grief no parent is ever prepared for. We are devastated, but remain hopeful to give Crew a sibling one day."

Sims, a former Miss Georgia Teen USA who has appeared in Sports Illustrated's Swimsuit Issue, also included photos of her baby's sonogram, a gender reveal cake, flowers of sympathy sent from friends and more in her picture carousel.

"Too often, these struggles happen in silence. There is still so much work and research needed to better understand and support women’s reproductive health," she added. "If you’re experiencing or have experienced pregnancy loss or infertility, please know you are not alone.

"Lastly, I want to recognize the doctors and nurses who must deliver this kind of heartbreaking news every day. It has to be the hardest part of their job, and I’m holding space in my heart for you too."

Support flows in comments

The comments section of Sims' post immediately filled up with people offering their best wishes under the terrible circumstances.

"Love you ," wrote Christen Harper Goff, Sims' friend and fellow SI model.

Golf influencer Paige Spiranac included three pink heart emojis in her comment, while Sims' mother also chimed in.

"My awesome strong daughter. Proud of you. Always especially now. You give me strength everyday ," she wrote.

"I’m so deeply sorry ❤️," another person added.

"Sending you endless love," said someone else.

Koepka, Sims embrace parenthood

Even with this terrible tragedy over them, Koepka and Sims spent time with their son Crew over the weekend at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in Scotland, where Koepka was competing.

“It’s my favorite place in the whole wide world, and I get to be here with my favorite people,” the five-time major champion said about the opportunity to be with family. “My son Crew gets to hit, he’s hit a putt here, he’s hit a putt at Augusta. The whole thing is, I dunno, surreal. The inner kid in me is excited for him.”

Koepka also shared photos of the event on his Instagram, along with the caption "A week I'll cherish forever with my Crew."
