Here’s exactly how Scottie Scheffler can win Tour Championship

If one needed further proof that Scottie Scheffler is a one-of-a-kind talent, just look at what he did last week. Despite battling hand, foot and mouth disease, the four-time major winner carded a 7-under par to finish tied for 12th at the BMW Championship. Even at well below full strength, he flirted with a top-10 finish at a tournament. A healthy Scheffler can be truly terrifying.

The top-ranked golfer in the world is in position to snatch the Tour Championship this weekend after tallying an 8-under through the first two rounds of play. If he can excel in one specific area, the rest of his game should hold up quite nicely over the weekend.

“Scottie Scheffler is ripping it right now and he was really good with his irons yesterday,” ESPN reporter Mark Schlabach told “The Pat McAfee Show” on Friday afternoon. “If he keeps it in the fairway, he’s gonna be tough to beat.”

A healthy Scheffler who is driving the ball to great effect may be unstoppable. He has found plenty of success in Atlanta, Georgia’s East Lake Golf Club.

The 30-year-old followed up an opening-round 65 with a 67 and is just two strokes behind co-leaders Viktor Hovland and Ryan Gerard. Fans will expect him to apply pressure on Moving Day. He will try to stay steady off the tee and display his signature composure on Sunday.

Scottie Scheffler remains the favorite to win PGA Tour Player of the Year honors, but another victory would cap off a magnificent three-year stretch in style.
