Jason Day has made headlines for his fashion on the golf course before, so it shouldn't have been a surprise that the one-time major champion wore an eye-catching outfit during Tuesday's practice round for the upcoming U.S. Open.

Day, who has not made the cut at the U.S. Open in five years, hit the course at Oakmont Country Club wearing an American flag-themed outfit from Malbon, which sponsors the 37-year-old PGA Tour standout.

Day wore American flag shorts, and the collar on his jacket featured the stars from the patriotic symbol.  The white windbreaker also had an American flag on the right arm sleeve.

Day is actually a native of Queensland, Australia, but he's clearly proud to be teeing it up in America.

In 2024, Day left Nike golf for Malbon, and his clothing on the course immediately became more noticeable. In fact, Day's outfits at the 2024 Masters packed so much flair, Augusta National asked him to tone it down for this year.

"We kind of did, but we kind of cut everything in half," Day said at the time.

"It's good. I understand. We're here for the tournament. This is why we come every April. We're here to play the tournament and I understand. We'll do what we can with what we have fashion-wise and enjoy playing the tournament."

The winner of the 2015 PGA Championship, Day posted five top 10 finishes, including a pair of second-place showings, at the U.S. Open from 2011 to 2016. However, since then, he's struggled at the tournament, missing four cuts in six tries while not participating in 2021 and 2022.

Day will tee off in the first round from Oakmont at 1:36 p.m. ET Thursday.
