PGA 2022 Odds and Best Bets - The American Express

The next stop on the PGA tour is California with the American Express starting on Thursday.

If you follow golf then you know that not all fields are created equal and this is definitely not a star-studded lineup. That can make for exciting play and lots of interesting action, though. I am not saying use a dartboard, but the results have been pretty far flung in the past.

Over the past few seasons we have seen some big time payoffs from this event. Andrew Landry won in 2020 and he was +20000. Three times we have seen a winner emerge from the field meaning the player was not even given specific, pre-tournament odds. We have also seen winners at +2500 or higher.

Right now the betting favorite is Jon Rahm at 7/1, followed closely by Patrick Cantlay at 10/1. The top five on the odds board include at Scottie Scheffler 21/1, Sungjae Im 23/1 and Tony Finau 26/1.

Some Bets to Consider

Rahm to Win at 7/1

There are lots of things to consider when picking a golfer to win an event, and one of them is definitely how they have performed on a specific course before. In the case of Rahm, he won this event in 2018 at 8/1. He is also at the top of the World Golf Rankings so even though this is chalky it is far from a silly way to go.

Matthew Wolf to win 41/1

Wolf is one of the more talented players on the tour and there is lots of talk that this season is the one where he busts out. He already has a second-place finish and even though he has not won on the tour since the 2018-19 season he looks primed to breakthrough. He is a California guy and this course looks really good for him. Lots of birdie opportunities and he has a strong short game.

Josh Bramlett To Finish Top 20 +550

One thing I love about golf betting is that it does not have to be a Major to get the full suite of betting options. I like this one a lot with Bramlett sneaking into the top 20 at the last event. This course probably suits him better than last week's and a wager like this give you something to track even if your picks to win the event are burnt.
