An unwanted visitor showed up to the grounds at Quail Hollow Club for Round 2 of the 107th PGA Championship on Friday. As Shaun Micheel approached his ball in the fairway, he was greeted by a snake.
Micheel, as most would do, took a couple steps back as a course official attempted to chase the snake away. But at one point, it looked as if the snake was going straight for Micheel’s ball. It would have made for an interesting ruling…
"I need him to take a bite at the ball."

Micheel, who shot a 3-over 74 in Round 1 on Thursday, is even through 12 on Friday. With the projected cutline at +1, Micheel has work to do to make the weekend at Quail Hollow.
But right now, it’s Jhonattan Vegas and everyone else. The 40-year-old, four-time winner on the PGA Tour is atop the leaderboard of the PGA Championship after posting a 7-under 64 in Round 1. He is 1-under through 10 on Friday, +8 for the tournament.
“Incredible,” Vegas said after Thursday’s round. “Any chance you get to shoot 64 at a major championship is always great.”
So far, the leaderboard features several surprise names such as Matthieu Pavon, Aaron Rai and Ryan Gerard. But the favorites are lurking.
World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, T23, tees off at 1:37 p.m. ET. The two-time major champion didn’t have his best stuff in Round 1 but battled throughout the day to be within striking distance of the PGA Championship lead.
“I did a good job battling and keeping a level head out there during a day which there was definitely some challenging aspects to the course,” Scheffler said. “Did a good job posting a number on a day where I didn’t have my best stuff.”
Bryson DeChambeau is off and running on Friday, 3-under through 13. He sits T12 on the leaderboard. The biggest surprise of the tournament, however, is the performance of Luke Donald. The 47-year-old and former World No. 1 shot a 4-under 67 in Round 1. Donald teed off T7.
“It’s always fun,” Donald said, “bogey-free in a major championship on a course that you wouldn’t have thought would be ideal for me.”
