Some golf fans are concerned about Max Homa after his latest decision, ‘sad to see’

Max Homa has been in the golfing doldrums for far too long now.

Homa, 35, has not won on the PGA Tour since January 2023, and despite working incredibly hard on his game behind the scenes, he seems further away from his best form now than he has ever been before.

The man from Burbank, California, has just one top-10 finish to his name in 13 events this season after he finished ninth at The Masters.

Max Homa has missed four cuts on the PGA Tour in 2026 and has recorded only two top-25 finishes so far.

Homa’s performance at The Masters last month proved that he is still very much capable of producing some magnificent golf.

However, his lack of consistency these days is alarming.

Now the six-time PGA Tour winner has made a big change in a bid to resurrect his career.

Golf fans are concerned about Max Homa after his latest decision

Homa has just made yet another change in the caddie department.

He has parted ways with Lance Bennett, according to Golfweek’s Adam Schupak, with his close friend, Peter Pappageorge, taking his bag for the Charles Schwab Challenge this week.

Back in April 2025, Homa and his long-term caddie, Joe Greiner, split. Now he has gone through the same process with Lance Bennett.

The American is clearly looking to make some marginal gains as he desperately tries to rediscover his best form.

However, many golf fans have suggested that Homa’s golf is the problem, rather than who he has on the bag.

One fan said: The problem is his golf game. Being really good was the anomaly.

While another claimed: It’s getting to the point where it’s not the caddie and it’s been at that point for about a year now.

Two golf fans echoed exactly the same sentiment, with comments stating, Here’s some advice Max – hit better shots, and, Max it’s your fault, not the caddie.

Another fan asked: Yet another caddie change. At what point is it the golfer?

Max Homa criticized for caddie change

Golf fans continued to question Homa’s decision on social media.

And the caddie carousel continues. I know changing your caddie when times are tough is normal, but I often wonder if it ever really makes that much of a difference. Having a good caddie is a gift, but players are the ones hitting the shots, one fan said.

While one fan suggested that Homa bringing in a close friend to caddie for him is a carefully concocted plan: Having a close friend on the bag honestly sounds less about strategy and more about getting Max mentally comfortable again.

What happened to Max. Sad to see, another fan said.

Another fan shared his concern, saying: I love Max Homa but it just feels like he’s spiraling. Caddies, clubs … what else can he change?

And the comments kept coming, with fans suggesting that Homa is the only person to blame for his poor form.

One said: The caddies don’t hit the shots. What number is this for him? What is the common denominator?

While another exclaimed: Max has now made multiple caddie changes including sacking one of his best friends, club and apparel changes in search of his previous winning form.

While Homa’s golf definitely needs to get better in general, a caddie change can sometimes improve a player’s performance.

The fact that one of his close friends will be on the bag at Colonial this week might just put him more at ease, and that may well be exactly what the six-time PGA Tour winner was aiming for by making the caddie change.
